Cantor for Hayworth

Rep. Eric Cantor has endorsed Dr. Nan Hayworth in her run against Rep. John Hall, D-Dover Plains. From the Hayworth campaign:

Republican Whip Eric Cantor says Hayworth will be vital part of new Congress

MONROE – Republican Whip Eric Cantor electrified Republican supporters when he said Nan Hayworth would be a vital part of a new Congress that will help rebuild the nation’s economy.

“This is one of the most decisive races in one of the most important elections in our lifetime,” Rep. Cantor told Hayworth supporters gathered at the Monroe home of Don Beeler. “A new Republican majority is going to be a majority that listens to the people. People are out of work and they want to get back to work. And Nancy Pelosi should be out of work next year.”

Orange County leaders Ed Diana, the county executive, and Bill DeProspo, Republican Party chairman for the county, also gave their enthusiastic backing to Hayworth at the Friday afternoon gathering. They said she will be the partner needed in Washington to help restore the economy. Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt and Assemblywoman Nancy Calhoun, as well as Sheriff Carl DuBois, joined the gathering.

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino endorsed Hayworth on Thursday. Both he and Diana have been aggressive in seeking to keep their respective county governments on a sound fiscal footing.

As for Hall, he’s with former President Bill Clinton tonight.

  2. This is so encouraging – Congrats Nan!
Congressman Cantor is one of those somewhat refreshing “new” Republicans, like Nan, who are true fiscal conservatives (vs. the earmarkers who flourished under GWBush). He will, hopefully, be one of the House leaders under the next Congress — and Congresswoman Nan Hayworth will get to vote for him! Nan and her campaign have shown good judgment in regards to the kinds of fiscal conservative / socially moderate supporters and allies she’s brought to the 19th to support her, while Hall by his actions, continues to support Charles Rangel and the worst of the Democratic corruption.
My wife who leans Democratic and I are both optimistic about a Republican Congress that will counterbalance the way-too-dogmatic one-sided policies coming out of the Whitehouse. Tell President Clinton tonite and on Tuesday that he was most successful when he was forced to work with a Republican Congress!

this mornings sienna poll makes clear that both the
republican candidates for attorney general dan donovan
and the great candidate for comptroller harry wilson
have the momentum and will win this race..coming from
behind they are now both tied at 44-44 with 12 percent
undedecided..more importantly in the suburbs both are
way ahead…this bodes very poorly for john hall because
the issue was turnout in light of the republican problem
at the top of the that appears not to
be the case and independents are voting heavily with
    republicans…hayworth beats hall
