Oppenheimer Up By About 370 Votes
Sen. Suzi Oppenheimer, D-Mamaroneck, Westchester County, is leading Republican challenger Bob Cohen by about 370 votes as of yesterday, as the counting of absentee and affidavit ballots are continuing today.
Oppenheimer’s lead had dipped to about 200 votes in recent days, but is back up, according to Democratic and Republican officials.
Most officials believe Oppenheimer will ultimately win, but there’s still plenty of counting to do. There’s roughly 1,500 ballots still to be counted, and about 400 ballots that are being contested.
The race is one of two still outstanding that will determine control of the state Senate. The other is in Long Island, between Democratic Sen. Craig Johnson and Republican Jack Martins, who holds a 438-vote lead.
