Cuomo: “You Think I’m A Softy?”
Despite the snowy conditions, Gov. Andrew Cuomo made his way to Rochester today to do his first appearance in the state’s third-largest city since he was elected, giving his budget address at Nazareth College.
Asked afterward by a reporter whether he has the toughness to stick to his cost-cutting agenda, the hard-charging Cuomo replied with a laugh: “What do you think I’m a softy? You think I’m a softy?”
The reporter said no.
“I am going to do what I told the people of the state of New York I was going to do,” Cuomo continued. “I ran for office, I was all over this state. I was very explicit in what I said I was going to do. I laid out a full agenda.”
Cuomo said he would announce the special election this week for the 26th Congressional District, a seat vacated by disgraced Rep. Christopher Lee, R-Clarence, Erie County.
Meanwhile, Cuomo is meeting with the Democrat and Chronicle editorial board this afternoon. They are live blogging it here.
