Katz takes constituent talk online

To further improve communication with constituents of Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties, Assemblyman Steve Katz (R,I-Yorktown) is launching a YouTube page where residents can view video footage of events hosted by the assemblyman as well as “Direct from Steve” commentary about pressing issues and current events.

“While rain, sleet, or a broken leg hasn’t kept me from serving the public, I know that despite my efforts to be available to residents in the evening and on weekends, people still have busy lives. Bringing the conversation online helps ensure that residents can participate whenever they have a chance – even if at 2 am,” said the assemblyman.

As part of his efforts to be available to constituents, Assemblyman Katz has launched a tour of Mobile Office Hours throughout the district as well as a traveling series of Town Hall-style meetings. He said, “Constituent service is very important to me and by coming directly to residents, I hope to let them know I am available. I am here to help them and to hear from them so that I can better represent their voice in the State Capitol.”

“Communication between constituents and my staff and I are critical, especially as our state is facing perhaps one of the toughest state budgets in history. It is vital that residents know who they can turn to for help and to represent their views. Even though my Mobile Office Hours and Town Hall Meetings have been a great opportunity, as a working parent myself, I understand how limited residents’ time can be and that’s why bringing the conversation online gives constituents yet another avenue to reach me,” said the assemblyman.

On Assemblyman Katz’s YouTube page, constituents and members of the media can watch videos of the assemblyman at events, press conferences, and even view his television show. Furthermore, the assemblyman wants to use the page as a tool to communicate directly with constituents by sharing “Direct from Steve” commentary videos. Assemblyman Katz continued, “I want to pursue every avenue to make sure residents are up-to-date with my efforts to improve our state and our communities here at home. But more than that, I want to hear from residents, business owners, farmers, local officials, kids, teachers – everyone. That’s why I also want to remind constituents that they can find me on Facebook and join the conversation directly with me there as well.”

Additionally, the assemblyman would like constituents to know they can now watch his legislative television show, “Assembly Calendar with Steve Katz” (pictured above), on their local government channels and on Cablevision. Viewers should check their local listings for times and channels, or visit his YouTube page where they can view full episodes.
