Truckin’ Up To Buffalo

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is headed to the Buffalo area tomorrow to sign the Recharge New York legislation that was approved as part of the budget.

He’ll be in North Tonawanda in Niagara County at 10:30 a .m. at the Acension Industries facility.

Perhaps overlooked in the budget deal, Cuomo got a permanent fix to the annual battle over extending the state’s Power For Jobs program, which was renewed annually in recent years without a long-term fix.

The Recharge New York program is similar to the Power for Jobs program in that it will continue to provide low-cost power to businesses. But what had been a major sticking point last year was the reduction in subsidies to some upstate homeowners. Cuomo’s plan increases the length and amount of the subsides through the New York Power Authority.
