Senator Polling Onion or Corn As State Vegetable

Sen. Cathy Young, R-Olean, Cattaraugus County, isn’t take a stand in the battle over what should be the state vegetable — onion or sweet corn.

Instead she’s polling New Yorkers on her website.

The poll from the former Senate Agriculture Committee chairwoman is the latest poll to gauge what should be the state’s vegetable as two competing bills have garnered increased attention in Albany.

“We have passed an on-time budget, passed a property tax cap and a spending cap in the Senate, and obviously there are many issues that we need to address in Albany right now. But aside from being a fun debate, this is also a great way to draw more attention to our agriculture industry, and encourage the consumption of New York’s vegetables and farm products,” Young said.

The Farm Bureau also has its own poll going.
