Yonkers City Council President Chuck Lesnick issued a response this afternoon to Yonkers Inspector General Dan Schorr’s report on misconduct allegations made against Lesnick by Mayor Phil Amicone.
“Yonkers Inspector General Dan Schorr released last night his report on “Ethics Allegations Involving Awarding of Impound Contracts” to the city’s Ethics Board. While I was confident that the Inspector General would find no evidence of wrongdoing by me, I disagree with his legal opinion on the towing issue. However, I do concur with his conclusion that ultimately the courts will decide the matter. I hope that the mayor will stop with his politically motivated attacks and focus instead on solving the long term fiscal issues our city now faces.”

Amicone’s spokesman David Simpson emailed the following comment about Schorr’s report.
“This issue is about accountability and transparency. All the mayor wanted was for the Council President to be open and honest about his relationships both with his campaign contributors and with his former law firm. In both cases the IG has found that Chuck Lesnick wasn’t as forthcoming about those relationships as he should have been. Mr. Lesnick needs to be more accountable moving forward especially since he wants to be mayor.”
