County Board races to heat up as GOP tries to rid Dems of supermajority

The deadline for filing petitions was yesterday. Here’s a the most up-to-date list of candidates for the Westchester County Board of Legislators who have filed petitions as of the July 14 deadline (others not appearing, but postmarked by that date may still appear on a final list, according to the Board of Elections):
• District 1: Republican and Conservative John Testa and challenger Michael Kane, Democrat, Working Families.
• District 2: Republicans Peter Michaelis and Lisa Douglas are running in a primary. Majority Leader Peter Harckham is running on the Democratic, Working Families and Independence lines.
• District 3: Incumbent John Nonna, Democrat, Independence and Working Families. Michael Smith, Republican and Conservative.

• District 4: Incumbent Michael Kaplowitz, Democrat, Independence and Working Families and challenger Terrence Murphy, Republican and Conservative.

• District 5: Incumbent William Ryan, Democrat, Working Families and Iris Pagan, Republican and Conservative.
• District 6: Daniel Brakewood, Working Families and David Gelfarb, Republican, Conservative. Mark Jaffe, Independence.
• District 7: Incumbent Judy Myers, Democrat, Working Families. Suzanna Keith, Republican.
• District 8: Incumbent Alfreda Williams, Democrat.
• District 9: Catherine Borgia, Democrat, Independence and Working Families and Susan Konig, Republican and Conservative.
• District 10: Incumbent Sheila Marcotte, Republican, Conservative and Independence. John FitzPatrick, Democrat, Working Families. Marilena Sophia, Conservative.
• District 11: Minority Leader Jim Maisano, Republican and Conservative.
• District 12: Incumbent MaryJane Shimsky, Democrat and Working Families. John Russo, Conservative.
