Though he’s not up for re-election until 2014, Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been hitting the fundraising trail early, raking in campaign cash at a Hollywood dinner last week and gearing up for a birthday celebration later tonight.
Cuomo turns 54 today, and his campaign is hosting a pricey fundraiser at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in Manhattan today. (The New York Times had a piece today on museum trustees urging other board members to support Cuomo while the museum is looking to expand on state land.)
Tickets, which are completely sold out according to the governor’s website, started at $100 for individuals; becoming an event sponsor ran from $10,000 to $100,000, depending on the number of people attending and the seating location.
The event will feature a performance from New York native Mary J. Blige. Two years ago, Cuomo’s birthday fundraiser featured Jon Bon Jovi (who, for what it’s worth, is from New Jersey.)
