The address will take place on Jan. 4 at 1:30 p.m.
Cuomo eschewed tradition earlier this year, moving the address from the Assembly Chamber in the Capitol to the convention center, which has the capacity for more people but breaks from decades of precedent.
In a statement, Cuomo said the decision to return to the convention center will allow more New Yorkers to attend.
“The State of the State Address is an opportunity to open the doors of government to New Yorkers and bring the people into the process of rebuilding our state,” Cuomo said. “Holding the State of the State in the Empire State Plaza Convention Center will allow hundreds of New Yorkers from across this state to come to Albany to be a part of this day.”
The state will begin taking requests at 9 a.m. tomorrow from members of the public hoping to attend, closing the registration period closing on Dec. 29 at 5 p.m. You can register at the governor’s website.
