Bob Cohen has $210,221 on hand
Scarsdale businessman Bob Cohen’s campaign account currently has $210,221 on hand in his race to replace retiring Sen. Suzi Oppenheimer, according to his latest filing.
Cohen, a Republican who narrowly lost to Oppenheimer in 2010, has already said he’s running again for the seat. He loaned his campaign a total of $120,000 in June and July of last year, according to his January filing.
Cohen’s filing gives him a significant fundraising lead over one of his potential opponents: Assemblyman George Latimer, a Rye Democrat whose campaign has $66,307 on hand.
The Republican has gotten off to an early start on the campaign trail. Cohen tweeted this weekend that he was campaigning door to door in Latimer’s hometown.
Meanwhile, anonymous robocalls bashing Latimer’s record have apparently been popping up in Oppenheimer’s current district.
Latimer hasn’t decided whether to run for the Senate seat, but said last week he is “certainly interested.”

Here comes Bob! This will be the most watched race for NY Senate
Bob’s got dough, to be sure. George Latimer has got tremendous mojo – the depth of his popularity in Lmt, Mmk, etc. is far ahead of any area pol.
It will indeed be the most watched race in NY: today’s version of Ali v. Frazier.
“Ground and Pound along the Sound”
Uh-oh, Bob-o. while you’re spending $$$ on robo-calls, the grapevine says Anthony Colavita Jr – son of THE Anthony Colavita – is planning on pushing you out of the Senate race. He’s been waiting for this moment for a loooong time. Colavita, long-time Eastchester Supervisor, is ready to move on up, especially with Jeff Klein (and his money) out of the S.D. Watch the blogs for more details.
Bob Cohen to face Rep. primary vs. Diane Roth of North Castle:

Let’s see if Colavita is really going to give up his $100,000 a year salary to run for NYS Senate making 79,000. Plus he’ll have to raise a boat load of money since he only has 39 K on hand.
Should be an interesting primary. Though based on the fact that Cohen almost took out a 26 year incumbent in an extremely tough district, makes me think he is the clear front runner
let’s understand the dynamic of that district in a presidential year…westchester has
become more and more democratic over time…the sound shore area has also become
more democratic…in presidential years minority turnout which favors the democrats is
enhanced…a non incumbant republican candidate is at a huge disadvantage against any
incumbant democrat like a george latimer or amy paulin for the simple reason that incumbants are officeholders who have constituent services, have run and won, and have
high name identification which costs plenty to establish..finally looking back at the last
oppenheimer race in which bob did very well but still lost the only conclusion one can draw is that the tea party was in the ascendency..now not the case..the governor was a disaster
now not the case…and suzi was at the end of her career and barely able to put a sentence
together…that won;t be true with lattimer who is on his game and a sitting assemblyman
even if the candidate is colavita the race will be difficult for the republican with obama at
the top of the ticket in new york and a republican nominee that may be too conservative
for new york moderates..see 1964 when every republican lost including incumbants
Colavita is not going to run, he makes enough money from his town supervisor salary and his side deals with town contracts. Do we really want another corrupt person like Colavita to be able to pollute in Albany more than we already have. Let him stay in Eastchester with his merry band of thiefs.
Dagizzie is correct. Tony has too much baggage. He will not run for higher office
Roth has announced vs. Cohen. I’d bet on the woman…particularly if she’s more conservative.
Colavita will have to explain his employment and relationship with Senator Guy, also why he hired convicted felons to work for his town, Why he had used town employees to work on his Bonxville Mansion, his domestic incidents with his ex wife, and special treatment he received from his police department in his domestic abuse charges. His lack of oversite and accountability of a vindictive police chief, who’s family does not even talk to him, and the money he wasted in trying to fire the only hispanic police officer the town had. Tony is not running for anything outside of Eastchester. He does not want anyone looking into his past.
I forgot about Tony’s abuse of cops who worked for him. he will never get any law enforcement endorsements. Run Bob Run!
