Myths And Legends, The Tier VI Edition

Posted by: Joseph Spector - Posted in Uncategorized on Feb 21, 2012

Business groups and local governments, under the name Let NY Work, says there are many “myths” pertaining to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposal for a new pension tier.

The group is supporting Cuomo’s call for a less generous pension tier for new state workers. The proposal is being fought by public-employee unions.

“As the debate continues about the potential to save New York taxpayers more than $100 billion dollars over the next 30 years, it is imperative that people understand the realities of what is being proposed, said Brian Sampson, executive director of the Rochester-based Unshackle Upstate, a business group.

“Far too often people opposed to changing the system are using myths and scare tactics to confuse people. Our goal today is to make sure that people understand the facts and hear from both sides of the issue.”

Here’s the group’s so-called mythbusters.

All the players need to come together and come up with a 21st Century Pension plan for public employees.

The current model is rooted in the past and we need a 21st plan, it is that simple.

Before there was the “Oracle of Delphi” there was Count Vampire J. Machiavelli
