Santorum, Gingrich To Attend NY GOP Dinner

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Sen. Rick Santorum will both attend a New York GOP dinner in Manhattan in the week leading up to the state’s presidential primary, according to the state Republican Party.

Gingrich and Santorum, who trail former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in the race for GOP delegates and the party’s presidential nod, will be “special guests” at the dinner, which will be held April 19 at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Manhattan.

In a statement, New York GOP Chairman Ed Cox said it’s a sure sign that the state’s primary will play a role in deciding the Republican nominee. New York has 95 presidential delegates, which this year will be distributed proportionally to the vote rather than winner-takes-all.

New York’s primary will be held on April 24.

“With 95 delegates at stake, New York will play a decisive role in this year’s Republican Presidential nominating contest,” Cox said. “We are pleased that Senator Santorum and Speaker Gingrich have agreed to be special guests at our annual dinner.”

  1. Santorum and Gingrich eat for free. Let’s hope the financial proceeds go to Romney so he can lose these two distractions and concentrate on Obama.
