An email from Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s campaign yesterday highlights his ranking in a recent Washington Post poll as the most popular governor in the state.
A Siena poll this week found Cuomo has a favorability rating of 73 percent, four points off of his all-time high.
Governor Cuomo is delivering results for New Yorkers: on-time budgets, a historic middle class tax cut, ethics reform, a property tax cap, same-sex marriage legislation, pension reform and teacher evaluations. And New Yorkers get it; a recent Siena College Poll put Governor Cuomo’s “favorable” rating at 73% this past week.
Yesterday, a Washington Post column entitled, “The nation’s 10 most popular governors — and why,” ranked Governor Cuomo No. 1, taking into account not just approval ratings but how successful the Governor has been legislatively, given the political backdrop of the state. The article says, “Cuomo may take the cake for being the most popular governor in the country, period, but he’s also doing it in a tough state where politics is cut-throat and the budgeting process is a minefield.”
The article goes on to say, “Perhaps more amazing: Cuomo’s approval in the Siena poll is nearly identical across the three major political identifiers – Democrats, independents and Republicans.”
The column is one of the latest publications to recognize the Governor’s accomplishments “in the midst of the economic turmoil sweeping the states.” The Governor has had to make difficult budgeting decisions, but has also led reforms that cut middle class taxes to the lowest level in 58 years and will relieve local governments of tens of billions of dollars in costs.
New York State is setting an example for the rest of the country. We want to thank you for your continued support to help make this happen.
Together, we are making government work for the people.
