YONKERS — Two emergency responders will be honored tomorrow at City Hall for helping delivery a baby girl during an emergency birth earlier this year.
Mayor Mike Spano will host the 11:30 a.m. reception for paramedic Robin Finkelstein and EMT Maria Figueroa, who both have 15 years of life-saving experience.
The pair responded to a March 26 emergency call on Grant Street of a high-risk pregnant woman in labor. Upon arrival, they quickly realized they’d have to deliver the baby on site and successfully helped the mother finish giving birth to a girl. The newborn was having trouble breathing, so both she and her mother were taken to St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers. They are now doing well.
Also being honored as “the unsung heroes of Empress EMS” will be President of Operations Mike Minerva, and Director of Business Development Hanan Cohen.
