The three Republican nominees for U.S. Senate will meet for a debate on June 17, according to YNN and NY1, the Time Warner Cable-owned stations producing the debate.
Manhattan attorney Wendy Long, Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos and U.S. Rep. Bob Turner, R-Queens, are all confirmed for the Father’s Day debate, per the Capital Tonight crew.
In April, the three candidates — locked in a competitive primary that has (for the most part) kept away from personal attacks — did a bit of tussling over when the right time for debates would be, but they appear to be in agreement now.
The debate will occur nine days before the June 26 primary. The winner of the primary will become the GOP candidate to take on incumbent Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, a Democrat, for a full six-year term.
