Sean Patrick Maloney, D-Philipstown, sent out word today that his campaign office and team have been set up. Headquarters are in Beacon.
Maloney won the Democratic primary June 26 to challenge Nan Hayworth, R-Bedford, for the 18th Congressional District in the general election this November.
He is a former White House Aide as well as a former aide to former Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who was victorious in a field of five candidates for the Democratic line.
Here is his statement today: “When I worked for President Clinton, we were able to create jobs and balance the budget because the President knew how to build a team he could count on,” Maloney said. “With the Primary behind us, I am excited to follow the President’s example by putting together a great team that will win in November.”
Maloney’s top staff members consist of those with experience in a range of Democratic campaigns and political battles.
Jennifer Cunningham,who was an adviser on the successful attorney general campaigns of Eric Schneiderman and now Gov. Andrew Cuomo is in charge of media communications; and Ed Peavy and Adnaan Muslin, both of Mission Control LLC which specializes in campaign strategies, will handle mailings.
Jefrey Pollock of Global Strategy Group, who advised U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, will focus on polling, and Allen Nesbitt, who has done research for many state Democratic committees, will be in charge of research.
Managing Maloney’s campaign is Timothy Persico, who held a similar post for former Congressman Patrick Murphy in his race for Pennsylvania Attorney General.
His opponent, Hayworth, kicked off her re-election campaign June 16.
