An opportunity to ballot petition was filed last week to allow a write-in challenge to David Buchwald on the Independence Party line in the 93rd Assembly District.
Buchwald, a White Plains councilman, is the party’s chosen candidate and thus allowed on the line even though he is not a party member. Any primary challenge has to be done through an opportunity to ballot. Buchwald, who is also on the Democratic and Working Families lines, has filed objections to the opportunity to ballot signatures.
Incumbent Assemblyman Bob Castelli holds the Republican and Conservative lines.
The district includes North Salem, Lewisboro, Bedford, Pound Ridge, Mount Kisco, New Castle, North Castle, Harrison and part of White Plains.
An opportunity to ballot petition has also been filed for the Conservative Party line in the 89th Assembly District in Mount Vernon and Yonkers, which is held by Gary Pretlow. Pretlow was running unopposed on the Democratic, Independence and Working Families lines.
The primary is Sept. 13 and the general election is Nov. 6.
