Playland attendance, revenue down compared to 2011

Both revenue and attendance are down at Playland through mid-July compared to last year, according to figures provided to the Westchester Board of Legislators Government Operations Committee this week.

As of July 15, 193,749 people went to the county-owned amusement park this year compared to 205,825 last year. The park brought in just under $4.2 million for season passes, day passes and other revenue compared with more than $4.7 million through July 17, 2011.

The county is looking at a series of proposals for revitalizing the park with the goal of making it self-supporting. Playland has required a $3 million taxpayer subsidy each year for several years.

  1. Just wait until the “self-supporting” Children’s Museum asks for a couple million a year to keep it alive.

Well! In My Opinions the Reasons that the “attendees and revenues shrunk at the Playland” is actually because We The American ( with Indivisible Loyalties and Without Multiple Passports) have actually become ” the Play in Our Land ( of the Free and The Brave ) “!

2012 is an ELECTIONS Year! ….And, HABIBHASAN -An American Storyteller doesn’t get it Four Years Later! Before that We were told “Bush doesn’t get it”….

Will One Billion Plus US Dollars and an ever continuing Campaign ( from day one intact ) and ” the Promised “Concessions to PUTIN Of Russia” gets it ?

We are worried for 2012 but a FEW ARE looking at 2016! What a joke! Mrs. Walker Bush said ” she has not seen a worst Presidential Election Campaign then this one today!”

By the way What the Hell is Mitti doing in London? …. Does he know that the Election is for The Office of The US President; and not for British Prime Minister? ….

  3. Whenever you see a drop in attendance you have to look at many factors. The first thing I think of when I look at this is, are they counting the Beach and Pool admission onto these totals? because the 3 million in taxpayer subsidy. What have they been doing for Advertising? I can find nothing on Groupons or Facebook fan specials. Do they have a TV add that shows regularly.

They only lost 12,076 guests and revenue are down $500,000. but they removed the admission fee for locals so. If you figure that 85% of the attendance is local and this year is not paying the $3 dollar admission. that’s $494,060 dollars.

the other thing is you can’t give way the gate and get money from the guests after when you don’t operate the majority of locations for people to spend money.

  5. Vertigo,

I am simply saying they did not loos much attendance and the loss of revenue looks to be directly related to the drop of the admission fee for county residents.

You seem to have taken offense to my comments, or is it you simply you had nothing worth while to say about the subject at hand so you opted to go after a poster?
