When asked about hydrofracking during a stop in Rockland County today, Gov. Andrew Cuomo relied on a familiar phrase.
Cuomo, a Democrat, said the state has made “no final decision” on whether to green-light high-volume hydraulic fracturing in New York. The state Department of Environmental Conservation is in the midst of a four-year review of the technique, and is expected to release its final decision later this year.
“The DEC has been working on a report on fracking that is ongoing and there is no final decision,” Cuomo told reporters.
The “no final decision” refrain is one often repeated by Cuomo and state officials when asked about the DEC’s hydrofracking review. (See: here, here and here.)
Speculation over when the state will issue a final recommendation was sparked again this weekend by a report by CBS News that said the network has “learned” New York will allow hydrofracking “after Labor Day.” The report cites no sources, named or unnamed.

I know he’s trying to be farm-friendly, but fracking isn’t.
Please Gov. Cuomo, don’t leave us hanging. According to Bank of America, hydraulic fracturing adds $1 billion to the US economy every day and some of that could belong to New York State residents if you would just get off your ‘energy assets’ and make a decision already.
DEC’s analysis of hydrofracking is absurd. Their spokeswoman DeSantis came from Lockheed Martin, I wonder why they chose her? As for Enviro Equipment Inc’s comment on the $1 billion per day revenue, where did they pull this figure from? Their energy assets?
