Democrats to appeal dismissal of Westchester child care case

Westchester Board of Legislators Chairman Ken Jenkins said late Monday he will appeal the dismissal of a lawsuit challenging an increase in the cost to parents of the county’s subsidized child care programs. The dismissal decision came down Monday.

Judge Neary’s decision will hurt thousands of low-income Westchester residents, many of them single mothers working hard to make a better life for themselves and their children. It’s important to keep fighting for the people of this county who need our support, and so we will. Our legal team will appeal this decision.

    Eventually the NYS Supreme Court will decree that the Legislators have the legal say in creating the Westchester budget after the County Executive presents a recommended budget.

    Unfortunately a few judges who don’t understand the law sometimes have to be hurdled
