Looking To Relocate? Buy Your Own Upstate Prison

The state Office of General Services said today it’s holding a public auction for the former Camp Georgetown Correctional Facility in Madison County.

The auction will be held on Sept. 11. A minimum bid of $390,000 is required. The auction will be held at the Utica State Office Building at noon with registration to begin at 11:30 a.m.

Site inspections will be held on Thursday, August 23, and Tuesday, August 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the state said.

The minimum-security prison was among seven that Cuomo closed last year.

Additional site inspections can be scheduled by calling 518-474-2195 or emailing: land.management@ogs.ny.gov.

Here’s the state’s description of the site:

The former 262-bed Minimum Security Facility is located on 31 acres of land. There are approximately 38 buildings on the site, which also has an onsite water distribution system, 150,000-gallon elevated water tank, underground sanitary sewer piping, permitted wastewater treatment plant and 10 petroleum bulk storage tanks.

Camp Georgetown was opened in 1961 by the state as a minimum-security forestry camp, and is situated within 98,000 acres of state forest land.

The property is being sold “as-is.”

But, one mist important part that Joe did not write is the “Living Reality” although ” anyone can relocate… And, buy their Own Prison!” But, still ( even in such compliances) The Supreme Law of The Land The Constitution of The United States Of America will apply! Caveit Empor! i.e Let the Buyers Known!
