Good-Government Groups Call on JCOPE to Investigate Lopez

A good-government group will team with a women’s rights organization to send a sworn complaint to the state’s ethics board asking for a full investigation into sexual harassment claims against a longtime Brooklyn lawmaker.

Common Cause/NY and the National Organization for Women’s New York City chapter will express mail a formal complaint today, according to the groups.

On WCNY’s Capitol Pressroom, Citizens Union executive director Dick Dadey also said his group will send a formal letter to the Joint Commission on Public Ethics, as well.

“JCOPE must investigate the extent of Lopez’s misconduct, every thwarted attempt to report it, and the failure of process which resulted in that conduct being hidden, tacitly accepted, and allowed to continue,” Common Cause/NY executive director Susan Lerner said in a statement. “Voters require a public airing of the facts.”

Lopez was formally censured by the state Assembly on Friday after the Assembly Ethics Committee found “credible” evidence that he sexually harassed two female staff members. But Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, D-Manhattan, has come under fire for a previous $103,000 settlement that was struck in June and held from the public until this week.

Lopez has steadfastly denied any wrongdoing or harassment.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo yesterday called on JCOPE to investigate the Lopez claims. The New York Post reported today that the ethics board has indeed launched a probe, citing an unnamed source.

What gender is this ” Good Government Group” ? Why would we need an ” Orgy” ( FRENCH WORD FOR GROUP ) ? THE GOVERNMENT in the Basic Principles of Political Science doesn’t need to be ” GOOD ”
WHAT the ” Government” needs to be is Law of The Land Abiding!

This Group Groupie is not making any sense!
