“Albany needs independent leaders like David Buchwald who’ll fight for what matters to New York families,” Gillibrand said in a statement released Thursday morning.
Her statement said Buchwald has fought to make government more transparent and worked to strengthen the economy.
Buchwald, a member of the White Plains Common Council who earlier received the endorsement of former New York Mayor Ed Koch, is also running on the Independence and Working Family lines. He’s challenging incumbent Republican/Conservative Robert Castelli, Goldens Bridge, for the seat that represents part of White Plains along with Bedford, Harrison, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, New Castle, North Castle, North Salem and Pound Ridge.
“It’s an honor to receive Sen. Gillibrand’s support,” Buchwald said of the endorsement, adding that “I plan to partner with her to find solutions to the important challenges facing communities and families here in the 93rd Assembly District.”– Rich Liebson/The Journal News
