The Westchester Department of Health will consolidate its space at 145 Huguenot St. in New Rochelle and has relocated some divisions to county-owned buildings elsewhere in the county, allowing a savings of $400,000 a year in lease costs, according to a statement Friday from County Executive Rob Astorino. The Health Department is reducing its space on Huguenot Street to 28,309 square feet from 56,618 square feet.

The health department’s divisions of community health, disease control, children with special needs and public health information and communications will remain at 145 Huguenot St. The main office of the environmental health division has moved to Mount Kisco. The administration division has moved to 10 County Center Road in White Plains.

“The move allowed us to save money while maintaining the workforce we need to protect the health and safety of the public,” said Commissioner of Health Sherlita Amler, MD., who will maintain offices in Mount Kisco and New Rochelle.

The number of employees in the Health Department has shrunk from 387 in 2008 to 293 in 2012.
