An woman in her early 20s named Brittany is calling voters in Westchester and asking them to vote for Assemblyman George Latimer, D-Rye, in his bid for the state Senate.
It’s the second robo call from WCLA-Choice Matters, a group that advocates for pro-choice candidates and has rated Latimer’s opponent, Bob Cohen, R-Scarsdale, “anti-choice.”
Here’s the transcript of the call: “Hi, my name is Brittany. I am 22 years old, and I am voting for George Latimer. George Latimer stood up for me so I could have safe access to reproductive health clinics. His opponent refused to do that. George Latimer stands up for women and our health. That’s why I’m voting for George Latimer. I hope you will, too. Paid for by WCLA PAC.”
UPDATE: Jessica Proud, spokeswoman for Cohen, defended the Republican candidate in a statement: “Bob Cohen is pro-choice and always has been — period. Choice Matters declared him that in 2010, and then suspiciously changed its mind after receiving $7,350.00 from Mr. Latimer’s campaign committee. These calls are an utterly dishonest attempt to deflect attention from Mr. Latimer’s record as the worst property taxer in the county.”
