Syracuse area congressional race a tie, Siena poll finds

Republican Rep. Anne Marie Buerkle and former Democratic Rep. Dan Maffei are tied at 44 percent each in new Siena College poll.

Green Party candidate Ursula Rozum has the support of 8 percent of likely voters, the poll found.

The three candidates are running in the redrawn 24th Congressional District that has Syracuse as its hub and runs west to to Rochester suburbs in Wayne County.

Buerkle is one of the top Democratic targets in the New York congressional delegation, along with freshman Reps. Nan Hayworth, Chris Gibson and Michael Grimm.
