Along with some last-minute cash to some of its endorsed Senate candidates, some of the state’s major business groups are getting involved with radio advertisements and direct mailers.
Jobs For New York—a non-profit advocacy group created by members of The Business Council, a lobbying group—and Unshackle Upstate are funding radio spots in support of two Senate candidates: Assemblymen Sean Hanna, R-Mendon, Monroe County; and George Amedore, a Republican from Rotterdam, Schenectady County.
The ads include a nearly identical script, promoting both Amedore and Hanna as pro-jobs candidates that will “remove barriers to economic growth.
“Sean Hanna’s pro-growth, pro-jobs policies are what we need now,” the narrator says.
In addition, Jobs For New York also put out a pair of direct political mailers last week, boosting both Hanna and New Rochelle Republican Bob Cohen’s credentials.
Hanna is facing off against Monroe County Legislator Ted O’Brien, an Irondequoit Democrat. Amedore faces Democrat Cecelia Tkaczyk, a Duanesburg school board member, for a seat that includes part of Ulster County. Cohen is up against Assemblyman George Latimer, D-Rye, for the seat of retiring Sen. Suzi Oppenheimer, D-Mamaroneck, Westchester County.
The Hanna radio ad is below, followed by one side of the Cohen mailer:
