IDC Doesn’t Tip Hand

The Independent Democratic Conference in the state Senate are playing its cards close to the vest as it ponders which party it would back in January to hold power of the state Senate.

It didn’t give a hint to its plans in a statement the four-member caucus just released.

“We’re humbled that so many New Yorkers came out yesterday to cast a ballot in support of the IDC’s policy-driven agenda,” the statement reads. “In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, New York families and businesses need a strong, stable government now more than ever. We look forward to getting back to the people’s business right away.”

The four Democrats — Sens. Diane Savino of Staten Island; Jeff Klein of the Bronx; David Carlucci of Rockland County and David Valesky of Syracuse — broke away from the Democratic conference in January 2011, after Democrats lost the majority.

Now they are a power broker. If Democrats regain the majority, the four-member IDC can either join with them to solidify Democrats’ hold or move to back a Republican majority leader.

Sen. Michael Gianaris, D-Queens, said this morning that he’s hopeful the IDC will join them. He said the group’s leader, Klein, has indicated in press reports that he wouldn’t back a Republican for leader.

But so far, Klein and his group aren’t saying where they are headed.

  1. Cooperation Favored on

In the US we have OUR President Obama as proof that the US taxpaying, hard working, citizens do understand between 2 choices so different as we had on Nov 6.

The results of Nov 6 are proof that the US citizens DO NOT WANT layers of billionaires, mostly hidden, and some of them not even US citizens from foreign power bases, buying our elections with horrible and blatantly false TV and radio ads.

President Obama and the Democrats raised about $100 million from grassroots donations that averaged about $35 from people who struggle to feed their families, pay their bills and get to work each day all across the US. They are not hidden billionaires or casino owners who should heed the message on Nov 6 2012.

We, the US citizens demand government by representatives who are honest, have good backgrounds with a history of actually working for good results FOR THE CITIZENS, and who will work with other political parties once elected to ACTUALLY DO THE WORK of the CITIZENS.

We DO NOT want representatives who speak of COOPERATION but then secretly meet in the basement and vow to do everything to unseat the other party’s person.

This is the overriding message that all parties need to understand !!
