The state Thruway Authority this afternoon will make a presentation to Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his cabinet on the three proposed designs for a new Tappan Zee Bridge — and the proposed costs of the project.

The cabinet meeting is set to start slightly after 2 p.m. You watch it live below.

The designs and costs will be reviewed, and the state Thruway Authority is slated to vote on its choice later this month.

Plans for the new bridge, which initially was estimated to cost about $5.2 billion, has moved at a swift pace. In September, the Federal Highway Administration gave approval for the environmental review of the new bridge over the Hudson River between Westchester and Rockland counties.

Cuomo in September named a selection review team to consider designs and costs for the new bridge. It will replace the current bridge, which opened in 1955.

The team has been considering various criteria, including the toll price, the bridge design, future mass-transit options and the impact on the region. Cuomo assailed an initial plan for a $14 cash toll; the toll is now $5.

Cuomo has said the toll would be determined by how much federal assistance the bridge received and its final cost. The state is seeking a $2.9 billion federal loan.
