NY’s Fracking Comment Period Begins Today

5

Can’t wait to weigh in on New York’s latest proposed regulations for hydrofracking? Wait no longer.

A 30-day public-comment period officially began today. It will close Jan. 11 at 5 p.m.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation late last month issued a new set of proposals for regulating shale-gas drilling, a legal maneuver that bought the agency another 90 days to finalize their rules. The state now faces a late February deadline for completing the regulations.

The DEC is accepting comments online and through mail. You can submit online comments here, while paper submissions can be sent to:

For reference, the DEC’s proposed rules can be found here.

  1. Fracking is Happiness because it will create jobs and increase revenue for all levels of government.

Happiness is Fracking and all the jobs that it will create.

So all you anti job creating people stop being sad and start being “HAPPY” with FRACKING

  2. I do not want to hear “yeah but it creates jobs” So would building wind farms. it is a dangerous, temporary solution to the problem. We should be look at harnessing the natural forces around to achieve free abundant energy for all. but where would be the control in that? We wouldn’t be dependent on Government and thats not what they want, they want to destroy the environment and destroy the economy, so that they people are completely dependent on government. It is all part of bigger picture and we need to wake up to it. Google Agenda 21

  3. FRACKING IS IMPORTANT TO THE FUTURE ECONOMY OF NYS. YES,WE DO NEED THE JOBS. BUSINESSES AND COMPANIES ARE LAYING OFF WORKERS AND CLOSING. WHERE WILL ALL THESE PEOPLE FIND JOBS. THERE IS NO POSITIVE PROOF THAT FRACKING WILL RUIN THE ENVIRONMENT,PA ACROSS THE BORDER FROM NYS HAS MANY WELLS AND THERE ARE FEW COMPLAINTS. PEOPLE WITH LAND PAY HIGH TAXES IN THIS STATE AND IF THEY CAN GET A BREAK,WHY NOT?SO IT IS TIME TO MAKE A DECISION AND MOVE FORWARD

  4. ANTHHONY PIERRI on

THE GAS INDUSTRY HAS PROVIDED INFO ON SAFE FRACKING AND IF IT CAN BE DONE SAFELY,IT SHOULD PROCEED. IT IS TIME FOR THE STATE TO MAKE SOME DECISIONS. IF THE ENVIRONMENTALISTS ARE SO CONCERNED MAYBE THEY SHOULD START COMPLAINING ABOUT ALL THINGS THAT IMPACT THE ENVIRONMENT,THERE ARE MANY,TOO NUMEROUS TO LIST. NATURAL GAS IS A VALUABLE ASSET TO THIS COUNTRY AND IN TIME IT CERTAINLY COULD REDUCE OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL. IT WILL CREATE MANY JOBS AND WE SURE NEED THEM IN NYS. LANDOWNERS CAN ALSO REAP THE BENEFITS,FARMS COULD BE SAVED,THE POPULATION OF NYS WILL BE BETTER OFF.

  5. pierri is no doubt a paid lobbyist for the frackers so who cares what he spews on this blog

same as the fumes, chemicals and other harmful gunk fracking will spew into our drinking water. and creating a few hundred jobs will no way equate to the permanent harm to clean water and safe farms and dairy farm cows and cattle that fracking will hurt
