Hip Hop Music Video Markets SUNY

Picture a hip-hop music video, except images of drinking and partying are replaced with studying, and scantily clad back-up dancers are replaced with University at Albany cheerleaders.

That’s the video a couple of SUNY alumni made to help market the 64-campus system. Chancellor Nancy Zimpher showed the nearly-four minute video as the opening to her State of the University address Tuesday.

The video will be released to the public next month, but if you bear with our “video of a video” from the speech, you can get a taste.

Here’s “If You Go to SUNY,” performed by UAlbany graduate Brendan Martin, who studied business and was recently signed with Warner Music. His agent, Jason Singer, is also a UAlbany alum.
