Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino has $2.2 million in the bank for his reelection race after raising more than $1 million in the last six months.

Astorino, a Republican, has a major fundraising head start over his three Democratic challengers. But one challenger, New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson, raised $426,870 in the four weeks since he declared his candidacy, according to his campaign manager, Jeremy Sherber. [1]

With money transferred from his mayoral campaign account, Bramson has more than $525,000 in cash on hand, he said. The campaign will likely raise and spend more than $2 million, Sherber said.

“That’s why Democrats need to choose the strongest possible candidate,” he said.

Today is the deadline for candidates to file their semi-annual campaign finance reports, which reflect donations and expenditures through Jan. 11.

County Legislator Bill Ryan raised only $250 and has $43,000 on hand. Board of Legislators Chairman Ken Jenkins is also running but his reports are not yet available.

Sherber said there were 675 donors to Bramson’s campaign, 85 percent from within Westchester County. The median contribution was $150.
