Syracuse Mayor To Seek Second Term

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner says she’s gearing up for a run at a second term in office.

Miner held a news conference Wednesday afternoon to officially announce that she’ll run for re-election in November.

The 42-year-old Democrat says much has been accomplished in Syracuse during her three years in office, but she says the city still faces “formidable challenges.”

Last summer, Miner was named co-chairwoman of the New York State Democratic Party, leading to speculation that she may not seek a second term as mayor.

Miner is scheduled to give her State of the City message on Jan. 24.
