The final ballots in the race for the 46th Senate district will be opened tomorrow, with Republican George Amedore clinging to a 35-vote lead.

[1]Eight ballots were counted today in Greene County, and Amedore lost two votes. He held a 37-vote lead over Democrat Cecilia Tkaczyk going into the day.

There’s one ballot to be counted tomorrow in Albany County and 90 in Ulster County, starting at 10 a.m., according to Amedore’s campaign.

Democrats are hopeful Tkaczyk can pull it off: She performed her best in Ulster on Election Day.

The counting started today after the state Court of Appeals ruled Wednesday it would not hear the case, meaning that 99 ballots ruled valid by an appeals court would be counted. [2]

It’s the only undecided race in the state, and it’s a critical one for control of the Senate. With it, Republicans would have 32 votes—enough for a majority.
