COLD SPRING : Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney, D-Cold Spring, who represents the 18th District, announces he has crossed party lines to support “No Budget, No Pay.”
The legislation was passed by a House vote of 285-144. and it makes sure that congressional pay will be withheld until Congress passes a comprehensive budget.
“No Budget, No Pay is a common-sense idea: Members of Congress do not get paid until they do their job and pass a budget. Congress should live by the same rules folks across the Hudson Valley live by: if you don’t do your job, you don’t get paid,” Maloney said in a statement to the press. “Whether it’s a Republican or Democratic idea, I am committed to working across the aisle to find common ground on the important issues facing families and businesses in the Hudson Valley.”
Maloney’s office says one of the groups who called to ask for his support on this legislation was No Labels, a political group that wants Republicans, Democrats and independents to work together to solve the country’s financial woes.
