The Westchester Board of Acquisition and Contract has a meeting scheduled for Thursday at 11 a.m., its first since a court decision ordering County Executive Rob Astorino to comply with a law removing the public works commissioner from the three-member board and adding the budget director.
The Board of Legislators had sued Astorino when he refused to implement the 2011 law. Astorino argued the law was not valid because it required a public referendum. But in a Feb. 25 ruling, a state judge didn’t allow the administration to make its arguments because the county attorney declined to bring the full Board of Legislators into the case.
The Astorino administration has appealed the decision but not yet been granted a stay, said Ned McCormack, a spokesman for Astorino.
Thursday’s agenda includes several contracts to move election equipment and others for the departments of Social Services, Planning, Health, Labs and Research, and Information Technology.
