YONKERS — Mayor Mike Spano will present his proposed 2013-14 budget on April 15, his office announced Thursday.
With the state’s fourth largest city facing an estimated $86 million budget deficit next year, Spano said it will be a “tough task” to plug the spending gap while continuing to provide services that residents have come to expect
“Our goal is to propose a fair and honest budget that will address our city’s top concerns, including the education of our students and our residents’ quality of life,” the mayor said in a statement Thursday afternoon.
His April 15 presentation before the City Council will be held at 11 a.m. at City Hall.
The city charter requires the council to adopt a budget by June 1.
