Westchester housing groups ask for help to break impasse over housing settlement

A group of non-profit housing organizations in Westchester has sent a letter to the area’s federal representatives asking them to intervene to break the impasse between the county and the Department of Housing and Urban Development over the 2009 fair housing settlement. The county could soon lose $7.4 million in community development grants from 2011. County Executive Rob Astorino has asked HUD for a hearing over the loss of funding and has asked the county board for authorization to take legal action to stop it.
