Public-financing group targets Senator Bonacic

1

Citizen Action of New York and the Working Families Party is out with mailers knocking some state Republican senators for not supporting public-campaign financing.

There’s at least two out already: about Sen. Hugh Farley, R-Niskayuna, Schenectady County, and Sen. John Bonacic, R-Mount Hope, Orange County.

Below is the one that has gone out against Bonacic.

Gannett’s Albany Bureau reported over the weekend that The Fair Elections Coalition, a state-based group of unions and good-government groups, is criticizing Senate Elections Committee Chairman Thomas O’Mara, R-Elmira, for not supporting public financing and accepting campaign contributions from outside his district.

Scott Reif, a spokesman for Senate Republicans, knocked the group.

“It’s pretty simple — the Working Families Party supports public financing because they have the most to gain from getting their dirty hands on the taxpayers’ money,” he said.
