In this file photo, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and 2013 mayoral hopeful Anthony Weiner attended a May 5, 2011, ceremony at Ground Zero with President Obama to mark Osama Bin Laden’s capture and death.
The event came just three weeks before the events that led to Weiner’s resignation from Congress amid the furor surrounding sexually explicit photos he at first denied sending to other women.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday said “shame on us” when asked about the possibility of Weiner being elected mayor by the Syracuse Post-Standard. On Thursday, the governor’s office backtracked from the comment, telling it the New York Times, he was “kidding.”
We wonder if the republican former mayor gave any advice to Weiner, a democrat, on a mayoral run.
