On Thursday, New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson will cross the Hutch to visit Mount Vernon and pick up a key endorsement in his bid to unseat County Executive Rob Astorino.
Bramson will meet with members of the Mount Vernon Democratic Committee on the steps of City Hall at noon Thursday to accept the group’s endorsement. The committee’s members include just about elected official in or from the city. Mayor Ernest Davis, State Sen. Ruth Hassell-Thompson, Assemblyman J. Gary Pretlow, City Comptroller Maureen Walker and members of the City Council are all expected to be there.
In a serendipitous quirk of scheduling, Astorino, a Republican, will pull into town shortly after Bramson’s appearance. He will climb the same steps in front of City Hall and, with Mayor Davis at his side, announce a joint county-and-city initiative to add police patrols to Mount Vernon’s streets during this summer’s nights. That event is slated to begin at 2:30 p.m.
