Former Republican Rep. Nan Hayworth was in Washington this evening for political “meet and greet” event sponsored by the Value in Electing Women Political Action Committee (VIEW PAC).
Hayworth did not respond to a request for an interview from a reporter who was asked to leave the event because it was closed to the press.
Hayworth and fellow Republlican Martha McSally of Arizona were the two featured candidates at the event, which had several dozen women in attendance on the second floor of the Capitol Hill Club.
Hayworth has filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission and her most recent campaign finance report shows she has hired a fundraiser.
But Hayworth’s volunteer spokesman has said the former congresswoman is not yet officially a candidate for the 18th Congressional District seat she lost last November to Democrat Sean Maloney.
