Fair housing settlement: Westchester appeals dismissal of community development grant case


Westchester County has filed a notice of appeal in its case challenging the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s decision to reallocate community development grants from 2011 over the county’s compliance with the fair housing settlement.

U.S. District Judge Denise Cote, who oversees the settlement, dismissed the county’s challenge to the reallocation Wednesday. HUD has said it must reallocate the $7.4 million in grants to other communities by the end of the month or lose the money to the Treasury.
