Westchester residents save on prescription drugs with card

Westchester residents have saved about $1.3 million on prescription drugs since the county began distributing a discount card a little more than a year ago. Since the ProAct Prescription Discount Card was introduced about 24,000 prescriptions have been filled at discount prices. The average Westchester resident has saved $54 on each prescription, County Executive Rob Astorino said this week as he celebrated the program’s success with resident who have used it.ProActUpdate (3)

The ProAct card is free for the county and residents. The program also covers prescription pet medications that can be filled at a regular retail pharmacy, as well as discounted vision and hearing benefits. Dental benefits are available for a small fee.

ProAct initially mailed a card to every household in Westchester, but additional cards can be printed at www.NYRxDiscountCard.com. Cards are also available at county offices.

The discounts are designed for residents who do not have insurance or whose insurance doesn’t cover particular drugs. The cards, which are completely anonymous, cannot be used in conjunction with any other type of insurance or to discount co-pays. The program covers all prescription medications, brand or generic.

Astorino is getting a $100,000 pension once he retires from this gig and will be getting elected official health insurance for LIFE !
Astorino has 2 Westchester cars he uses and raised the number of political patronage hacks who are also on the County payroll by over 99 positions: under Rob Astorino.
He also has the campaign staff for his re-election working on the Westchester payroll generating these types of press releases and staged photo ops.

  2. Please explain WHY he gets that kind of pension for ONLY four (4) years of being in office ??? Maybe if he served 20 years but that is absurd. He is the typical Republician I have known all my life. Good for me and screw the people. I wonder what Plunkett gets and the others him?? Meanwhile they are crucifying the county workers over healty benefits. If it';s true that they are running the campaign with county employees that’s criminal and the Feds should lock down the building and take a look. Any Feds out there reading this??

  3. Gotta say, I think Bramson did an excellent job during the debate. He was very articulate and his vision for the future for the county, I especially liked the idea of shared services, although I feel we could reduce the number of school districts and that would help reduce taxes. I commend him and it was inspiring to hear him acually call Astorino out on his blatant lies and wanting to take credit for what others have done. I cannot believe Atorino started off and continued to make the claim that the county was $166,000,000 Million dollars indebt when he took office, when that was proven to be false by the Legislatures. That has been his pattern every year, crying wolf and being proven wrong everytime even just recently by Jenkins and the Legislatures that Astorino layed people off and slashed budgets based on wrong or possibly FALSE accounting just to get what he wants. Sounding familiar.

The comments on here are great, only they lack any kind of substance.

I’ve lived in New Rochelle for 15 years and can tell everyone (with 1st hand knowledge) that Bramson’s done a horrible job managing its finances and has handed out millions and millions of tax abatements and the rest of the city had to make up the difference. Just look at the last few NR city tax bills, 10% on top of 10% on top of 10%.

Bramson’s put in the library and garbage taxes. Wants a utility tax and red light cameras. Plans to borrow all of the money NR needs to move its city yard and he’s got no plan how to pay for it so I’m expecting that he’ll continue to ask the NR city council to override the tax cap for years to come.

Astorino? Well he produced 3 balanced budgets, reduced spending and property taxes. There’s a lot more he could do, but he’s had to deal with an obstructionist legislature for 2 of 3 budgets.

Bramson, just wrong for Westchester for so many reasons.

  5. What About the Hutch on

Astorino is still a LIAR and continues to reinvent history to suit his selfish political opportunism. He has no credentials and is way over his head in governing Westchester. Anyone that thinks logically knows he is wrong and his claim of doing anything is reaching at best and FRAUDALENT at worst.
Noam Bramson for County Executive come 2014 !
