NARAL New York weighs in on abortion issue in Westchester exec race

With the abortion issue taking an increasingly prominent role in the Westchester county executive race, NARAL Pro-Choice New York President Andrea Miller issued a statement Tuesday on what she said was incumbent County Executive Rob Astorino’s mischaracterization of the Women’s Equality Act.

Miller was responding to statements Astorino made in an interview with The Journal News where he said his opponent, New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson supports unrestricted abortion through nine months, basing that on his support for the Women’s Equality Act. Click here for more.

“Rob Astorino has demonstrated yet again his open hostility to a woman’s right to make decisions about her reproductive health,” Miller said. “It’s truly shocking that someone who claims to represent Westchester would use inflammatory and offensive language to mischaracterize Noam Bramson’s position on the Women’s Equality Act – legislation that the vast majority of New Yorkers want to pass because it codifies Roe v. Wade in state law.

“Astorino’s comments are an affront to the vast majority of Westchester residents – both women and men, Republican and Democrat – who are pro-choice, and want reproductive rights and their access to the full range of reproductive health services, including abortion care, protected.”

  1. But it really isn’t an issue in Westchester except for a certain someone who’d like it to be an issue.

A certain someone who’d rather not talk about his handling of a certain city’s finances.

A certain someone who’d rather not talk about his tax giveaways to developers.

A certain someone who’s embarrassing his alma mater because he shows no aptitude for basic math.

Any idea who that certain someone is?

If no correct answer by 5 pm, more clues will go up.

That said, I don’t know why Ms. Miller wants to legalize late term abortion. Between all the fluff, I think that’s her issue.

Another extremist supporting Noam Bramson? I wouldn’t be surprised.

  2. The debate (but not for a local election like this) should be on the first trimester. Anything after is barbaric and anyone who supports is inhuman.

  3. Gnome really rubs me the wrong way. He’s for a woman’s right to choose, gun laws and other things relegated to the Supreme Court. What is his stance on China floating the yuan? Perhaps we can discuss Middle Eastern politics as well? Who cares? He’s going for County Executive. Not President of the United States.
