George Pataki decided against running for re-election in 2006.

Last year, Cahill’s tax returns showed $569,273 in 2013 income from Chadbourne and Parke, the international law firm that also employs Pataki. He took in another $102,381 from The Pataki-Cahill Group, a firm he co-founded with the former governor, and $117,333 for sitting on the board of directors for the Yonkers-based Hudson Valley Bank.

What did he pay in taxes? Overall, he paid $279,823 in income taxes in 2013 — with $221,517 going to the federal government, $50,857 going to the state and $7,449 going to the city of Yonkers.

Cahill received a federal income-tax return of $26,793 and owed $10,521 on his state taxes. He claimed $34,332 in charitable donations, including $5,000 to the St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers.

His annual income peaked in 2008, when it hit $1.2 million. He topped $1 million in 2011, as well, with a big spike that year coming from The Pataki-Cahill Group. (Cahill campaign spokesman David Catalfamo declined to discuss the company’s clients.)

He also previously served on the board of directors of TBS International, a shipping company that was headquartered in Yonkers and incorporated in Ireland. Cahill was paid a salary for serving on the board for a few years, including $77,454 in 2011.

Cahill worked as Pataki’s top aide in 2005 and 2006, when he claimed $168,575 and $171,002 in income, respectively.

Current Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has made the past five years of his tax returns available over the years, though he made only his 2009 returns available when he first ran for attorney general. Most recently, he showed $297,836 in income last year, including $98,341 from capital gains.
